Metanoia
My most recent collection, REAP, was prompted by an invitation by Bloodbath Studios to be a featured designer in their 3rd annual runway show, “Metanoia”. The show was inspired by Metanoia, the process of experiencing a psychotic "breakdown" and subsequent, positive psychological re-building or "healing". After nearly dying a month prior in the middle of Manhattan (that’s another story), I felt the theme of this show was absolutely perfect for my solo return to the runway. The venue chosen was an old church in downtown Austin.
This was my 13th runway as a designer, and I have well learned that many fashion shows in TX might as well be on the moon. They exist isolated from industry buyers, influencers, and celebrities. I was done expecting that my story would be anything like my fashion hero’s, TX is not Paris and this isn’t the 90’s. I was excited to take on this project with my new appreciation of the audience that would view my collection. I just wanted to give them a good show. With that in mind, I immediately knew for my collection I wanted to tell a story in three pieces (pieces, meaning looks), kinda like a little play that is performed while walking the runway. I put effort into writing the characters in this collection, casting, choreographing the performance, composing the music, and executing the looks themselves.
Enjoy.
